FAQ's:
The questions most often asked by first-time temps.

What do I wear?
You can’t go wrong if you wear a suit, discreet jewellery, closed shoes and a big smile – unless advised otherwise.

How will I know what to do?
Most client companies will assign someone to making sure that you do.

Just be sure to ask all the right questions in the first few minutes - and you'll be fine.

  • Establish where you sit.

  • where the bathroom facilities are,

  • where you are expected to eat your lunch

  • and when the lunch break is.

  • Make sure you know how to use/troubleshoot the photocopier/fax etc.

  • If you'll be answering the phone or speaking direct to clients, ask how this should be done.

It's wise to request a list of the key personnel - those you'll be working with, as well as any senior management with whom you may come in contact.

Use this to make sure you address them the right away and spell their names correctly. Do not address any executive by first name unless asked/advised to do so.

Make sure you are absolutely clear on important issues such as the deadlines for the work you're doing and listen carefully to instructions on how it should look.

What if I get sick and can’t go to work
Call – or have someone call your Consultant before 7.30am so that she/he can find a replacement. You will not be paid for sick leave.

What if I need time off for a job interview or similar?
If you’re on a short term assignment – under one month – you really should avoid taking any time off. Job interviews can – and should – be arranged out of hours. If this is impossible or you have a personal emergency, talk it over with your Consultant who will intercede on your behalf with the client.

What if I really can’t do the work, hate the environment or clash with someone there?
Stay as cool and charming as possible while you ring your Windsor Consultant and explain the problem. Let her/him come up with a solution and negotiate the outcome. They’re trained to do this and very, very good at it.

What if I have an accident or a health & safety issue?
You should be given an induction in emergency procedures when you first arrive. If this doesn’t happen, you should ask the employer contact about it or raise the issue with your Windsor Consultant.

Should you have any concerns or issues, talk to your supervisor or the firm’s OHS representative. Then notify your Consultant as soon as possible. Depending on the situation, you may be asked to fill out a report.

What does a consultant expect from me?
Each member of the Windsor Temp team is expected to be honest and to fulfil – to the best of his/her ability – work commitments that you make.

This means that you agree to work for the full length of your assignment, call in if you are unable to attend due to sickness, accident or similar, note down the details of the job and pass on that information to your Consultant, be a great Windsor ambassador – and keep in touch!

Overall, you are expected to be upfront, reasonably and readily available and willing to work.

How am I paid?
You will be paid an hourly rate that your Consultant will talk to you about at the time when you’re accepting the assignment. Providing you have supplied all the relevant data and return your timesheet at the agreed time, your pay will go directly into your bank account.

You need to fax your timesheet through to Windsor on 3211 0002 on Friday afternoon and the pay will be in your nominated bank account by the following Thursday.

What if I miss the timesheet deadline?
Call your Consultant immediately you realize the problem.
